Unveiled in 1992 and sculpted by local artist James Osborne, one of his last works before his death in the same year. The fountain was designed for people to throw in loose change which was donated to the Royal Alexandra Children's Hospital. Brighton Square itself was developed in the mid 1960s occupying a spot once known as The Knab, a small rise where fishermen dried their nets.
