Century Mill, Farnworth - chimney
An early 20th century cotton spinning mill using ring frames and powered by a 1500 horsepower Hick, Hargreaves cross compound steam engine. Now in multiple occupancy. The chimney is a fine example but there is evidence that bits have been falling off and the lightning conductor appears to be broken.

An early 20th century cotton spinning mill using ring frames and powered by a 1500 horsepower Hick, Hargreaves cross compound steam engine. Now in multiple occupancy. The chimney is a fine example but there is evidence that bits have been falling off. The boiler house is nearest and the bricked up opening below a tall pitched roof line on the main face of the mill is where the engine house has been demolished - shame.
