Winton: Rechabites? hall; now dance studio
This dance studio in Kemp Road was once the hall of the Rechabites, a movement of total abstinence from alcohol. The building was listed as the Rechabites’ hall in the Kelly's directory of 1975.

Winton: crowds await the Olympic torch relay
Looking down Wimborne Road, the main street through Winton, a short while after it has been closed to traffic ahead of the Olympic torch relay, which will pass through ten minutes or so from now. A bus has made it part of the way along and has had to pull up at a spot which is not a bus stop.

Winton: snow on Wimborne Road
Looking along Wimborne Road after two hours of snowfall.
Two days after heavy snow earlier in the week had all thawed, this fresh lot fell from the north this morning, despite the fact that the day started rainy, with large puddles all around.
By nightfall, the main carriageways of all roads were clear of snow and ice, so this was a very heavy fall considering that it started and had almost disappeared on the same day.

Winton's third annual carnival chose a spectacularly sunny day to proceed down Wimborne Road. We are looking from the point at which the procession turned left into Cardigan Road for afternoon activities at Winton Rec.

Winton: back of the Olympic bus
A map of the UK on the back of the Olympic torch relay vehicles pinpoints some of the major places that the relay did or will visit, from Land's End (where it started) in the south to Lerwick in the north. Its 56th day saw it reach Bournemouth from Weymouth and we see it passing through the suburb of Winton, near its journey's end for today.
