Bournemouth Blue Plaques: No. 20 - F C Riggs VC MM 39, Capstone Road
The second of two posthumously awarded recipients of the Victoria Cross in this Bournemouth suburban street was Sergeant Frederick Charles Riggs. He was killed in action near Epinoy in 1918 and whose home was here at 39, Capstone Road (since demolished). He had also been previously awarded the Military Medal. The plaque is located on the nearest surviving house to 39, at no. 45.

Bournemouth - 39, Capstone Road
Number 45 seen here is the nearest surviving house to 39, Capstone Road (since demolished) and bears a plaque to the second recipient of a posthumously awarded Victoria Cross who lived in this street. It was awarded during the First World War to Sergeant Frederick Charles Riggs (1888 - 1918) who lived at 39, Capstone Road, and who was killed in action near Epinoy in 1918.

Malmesbury Park: footpath D08 arrives on Capstone Road
A short alleyway connects two long, parallel streets, Shelbourne Road and Capstone Road, and we look towards the latter. It also nowadays forms a driveway to small chalet houses that have been built in people's back gardens, just behind us.
