Throop: postbox № BH8 273, Broadway Lane
The directional sign on top of this postbox is a fairly rare survival. It is quite common to see a postbox with the remains of one of these signs, either because the post office is no longer there or due to vandalism (see for example Image).

Muscliff: entering Wilderness Way and bridleway M18
Wilderness Way is a wide, finely gravelled footpath running from Broadway Lane (here) to Muscliffe Lane, which runs parallel with the original bridleway, which we see heading to the right. They pass the Muscliff Park playing fields on the way.

Throop: the sign for B.O.A.T. K25 is just along from Careys Road
Another view of Image, showing its proximity to the start of Careys Road, the gravel road in the background whose white name sign is just visible. It is Image which, according to all maps, is the route of the byway.

Throop: sign for B.O.A.T. K25
This path leaves Broadway Lane here and is signposted as B.O.A.T. (byway open to all traffic) number K25 to Mill Road. However, the mapped course of the route is the much more obvious and straightforward Carey's Road, which runs parallel just to our left.

Throop: Careys Road from Muscliff Lane
A gravel road which is also a byway open to all traffic (or B.O.A.T.), leading to Mill Road. However, although all maps mark this as the route of the byway, the signage on the ground differs (see Image).

The school was opened in the mid-1990s to answer the needs of this rapidly growing housing estates and is now one of the most oversubscribed primary schools in Bournemouth.

Throop: fiery sky over Careys Road
Looking towards the western end of Careys Road, which is byway open to all traffic (or B.O.A.T.) number K25, between Mill Road and Broadway Lane.

Muscliff: part of the fence is down alongside bridleway M18
It is 9:15 on a fairly bright summer's evening but here in the thick of the trees we have only the last vestiges of daylight as we look along this public bridleway. A modern footpath, broad and neatly gravelled, runs parallel to us and the fence along this stretch between the two has collapsed.
