Iford: secondary course of the Stour
The River Stour, which is approximately the Bournemouth-Christchurch borough boundary along this part, splits into two a couple of miles upstream at Throop Mill and here the more minor course is seen as it approaches the point where it rejoins the main river.

Iford, Sheepwash
The area North of Iford on the Western bank of the Stour is known as Sheepwash; this doesn't seem logical, as farming locally was traditionally dairy. Forecasts of extreme weather haven't (yet) materialised; just a pleasant smattering of snow on the ground.

North of Iford, the River Stour has been re-engineered from its original course, to reduce the risk of flood damage to nearby roads & housing. Small pockets of alder or willow carr remain, here, frozen. For more information on the area, see http://www.england-in-particular.info/rivers/rs-bourn.html
