The Church of the Ascension, Woodlands
The Church was given to the village by Harriet, Countess of Shaftesbury, in memory of her husband, Anthony, the 8th Earl of Shaftesbury. Woodlands was part of the Shaftesbury estate until after the Second World War. Most of the inhabitants were employed by the Earl or his tenant farmers.
The church was designed by G F A Bodley and dedicated in 1892. The exterior is plain but the interior is striking. Three central columns form arcading down the middle of the nave.

Porch, The Church of the Ascension
At the time of my visit to the church it was being made ready for the flower festival. Here the porch has been decorated with a beautiful garland.
