Merley: postbox № BH21 130, Oakley Hill
Looking down Oakley Hill towards the bridge over the Stour, past this postbox which receives its final collection at 5:30pm on weekdays and now at 11:30am on Saturdays – the latter time displayed on a sticker over whatever the Saturday collection used to be.

Here be trains (once upon a time)
Not a very inspiring picture; a chain-link fence with a single-carriageway road glimpsed beyond. However, I'm standing on the formation of the old Southampton & Dorchester Railway where it was carved through by the A31 Wimborne by-pass. Almost impossible to think this was once the trunk rail line linking London with Dorset.

Lady Wimborne Bridge
This ornate bridge carries the trackbed of the former Southampton and Dorchester Railway over the drive to Canford House, now Canford School. The railway line itself closed in 1977.

Lady Wimborne's Bridge
The bridge appears at Image and at Image, as it straddles a northing gridline as well as the Stour Valley Way.
