Swanage: smart houses on Peveril Point Road
These modern houses catch the bright sun this lunchtime – they must have splendid views out the rear windows to Ballard Down, as we do from here.

Clock tower and pillbox
The Wellington clock tower was originally installed at the end of London Bridge in but was removed only years later as it was an obstruction to traffic. The tower was brought to Swanage by George Burt. Below the tower, which stands on private land, is a small pillbox from WWII, one of several wartime structures around Peveril Point.

Wellington Clock Tower, Swanage
This was erected in 1854 at the end of London Bridge as a memorial to the Duke of Wellington. It was soon deemed too much of a traffic obstruction and was shipped here by George Burt and re-erected in 1860.
