Swanage Pier exhibition centre, Marine Villas, Swanage
2 and 4 High Street contains a shop, café and exhibition including Edwardian gaming machines, along with an amusing display of mid 1900’s ‘naughty’ seaside postcards by Donald McGill. Part of the exhibition is devoted to the early history of the paddle steamer and also displays of artefacts and treasure trove brought up by divers from the many ship wrecks along the Dorset Coast.
Marine Villas is a Grade II Listed building of 1825 by William Morton Pitt. Built as Baths, Billiard and Coffee Rooms it was designed by Charles Wallis of Dorchester.
