Poole: a memorial to Blondie
Blondie is clearly the nickname of Robert Beavers, who was lost at sea in December 1986 and is commemorated by fishermen (it says, 'remembered by local fisherman') by this stone in the wall abutting the quay by the lifeboat station. It ends with the phrase "Sleep in Heavenly Peace".

East Quay, Poole
Traditional quayside cottages at East Quay in Poole. To the right is a much more modern quayside house. This image was taken on a December day. Despite the bright and pleasant sunshine, the temperature was not much above freezing.

Defending Dorset in 1940: the Maiden Newton - Poole Harbour Stop Line (86)
- Pillbox (unclassified): DoB ID: e24909 Poole - Poole Quay Pillbox. Of unknown type, this is the closest view I could get without trespassing and getting torn to shreds by a sea of brambles! It sits behind a wall on a derelict patch of land behind Poole Quay and appears to be built mainly of concrete. It has parallel brick-built entrance walls containing steps down to a protected entrance doorway. The steps cannot be seen however as apart from the brambles, they are currently hidden under a quantity of soil between the walls. Image

Poole: fishing nets on the quay
Poole Quay is more associated with leisure craft and Brownsea Island steamers but, towards its eastern end, there is a relatively small area where fishing vessels are still based. Here we see fishing nets draped over a metal rail on the quayside.
