Perseverance Lane, Great Horton
The houses and shops at this end of the lane are probably early 19th century, judging by the former chapel across the road Image

Lichen Close, Great Horton
The name for this residential street may have been inspired by lichen growing on the old gravestones seen in this view that lines the edge of the old churchyard from which they were taken. For the other side see Image

Great Horton Bell Chapel - east end
A former bell chapel, a 2-storey rectangular building in Georgian style "erected by public subscription as a chapel of ease" in 1806. I have not found out when it ceased to be used for worship (certainly before 1965) but it was formally, if belatedly closed in 1971 and sold to J&C Broadley Ltd "in connection with the woolen industry". Covenants were varied in 1980 to permit use for a tool hire business (as mentioned in the list description) but it was sold again in 2009 to Southfield Health Care for use as part of a residential home, although the conversion does not appear to have gone ahead and it may now be disused. For the other end see Image The chapel is now listed grade 2 (list entry 1314123).
