Shopping Parade, Mortimer Avenue, Bradford
Situated on the west side of Mortimer Avenue, in the Bradford Moor estate. From late 1981 until 1983/4 my wife and I ran a grocery/sandwich shop in the 2nd unit from the right. At that time the 1st unit was a very good Fish and Chip shop, the 2 middle units were Bradford Moor Library, and the 2 units at the far end were an Off License Shop. In more recent times the 2 right hand units became, and possibly still are, Mortimer House Children's Centre Image There was also a parade on the east side of the road which probably had 6 units also, but I can only remember 4. There was a Hardware Shop, a Wholesale Pie Maker (who supplied us with delicious Pork Pies), a Newsagent, and a Ladies Hair Salon. Both parades later fell into dereliction but the east side was demolished and replaced with housing.
