Progress on the rebuilding of St James's Church, Otley Road, Charlestown, Baildon
This wooden church was in SE1639 (qv) and has been dismantled and is being re-erected in the southern corner of the site to allow the northern part of the site to be developed for housing.

Halfway House, Otley Road, Charlestown, Baildon
Until recently this was Q's, but has had a face-lift and moved up-market to be more of a restaurant than a pub, but going back to its original name. It would seem to be halfway between Bradford and Otley.

The new church rises
St James church on the junction of Otley Road (A6038) and Kirklands Lane. The church was moved approx 25m nearer to the junction when the adjacent land was sold for housing. As part of the "deal" the existing Scout hut/community hall was demolished and a new one built adjoining the original church.
