As we await our curry order, which is being prepared at the Rupali over the road, my wife and I enjoy a quiet beverage out here in the rear beer garden where the sunlit scene over the main road catches my eye; the church and the old part of the village. We enjoy a pint of Staropraman Czech lager each and look forward to our shared Vegetable Biriani, four onion bhajis and Peshwari naan bread. My wife wanted her customary mutton vindaloo but they couldn't meet her request. Nor for a half-yard of ale at the pub. I had to restrain her at this point. She never handles disappointment well. After verbally abusing the young server and the landlord I dragged her out of the pub and back to the curry house where we collected our warm takeaway bag and trotted home without further incident. We dined at a tiny bistro table set up on the sunlit path at the rear of our accommodation, with a view over the area laid out before us. A peaceful and rewarding end to our day, reflecting back on our walk, the good weather, our good fortune and the prospect of further adventures and our plans therein coming to fruition. A very pleasant end to a very pleasant day.
