Bradford: the Wool Exchange
Situated on the wedge-shaped corner of Market Street (left) and Hustlergate, the Wool Exchange was built in the 1860s. Wool was an important industry in the city, although after 100 years trading in the building ceased. It is now used as a small shopping centre, with Waterstone's the bookshop having the largest store in the building. What appears to be a flying buttress along the right hand side is actually not - it is an illusion created by the presence of a large plate-glass frontage immediately this side of it.

Wool Exchange, Market Street, Bradford
One of the city's star buildings, designed by Lockwood & Mawson, who had, almost inevitably, won the architectural competition amid controversy. Built 1864-67. The style is Venetian Gothic (Image]), although to me the tower at least wouldn't look out of place in parts of northern Europe. Grade I listed. Nowadays it houses a shopping centre.
