Shaft for Frizinghall to Esholt sewage tunnel
Have you ever wondered how all Bradford's sewage gets to Esholt treatment works (SE1840)? It goes through a 4,807 yards long, 10ft wide, 400ft deep tunnel from Frizinghall under Wrose, Idle and Thackley. The tunnel was opened in 1923. This is one of the tunnel's ventilation shafts, in the grounds of Hepworth and Idle Cricket Club. There is also a picture of its twin at SE1636.
