Thackley tunnel air shaft on Birk Hill
There is a pair of tunnels through the hill north of Thackley, which once carried four tracks of the Midland line from Leeds to Shipley and beyond. Only this northern tunnel is still in use. The corresponding vent shaft superstructure for the south tunnel has been dismantled.
