Clitheroe Station
A Class 150 unit waits departure time on an early morning all stations to Manchester Victoria service. Clitheroe lost its rail services in 1962, but after some 32 years they were resumed in 1994, and traffic has picked up well. The hourly service to Manchester Victoria also provides, via a 'same-platform' change at Bolton with only a few minutes' wait, a service to Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Airport. Progressive public transport policies of Lancashire County Council have brought about these welcome changes, and Clitheroe is now a bus interchange as well. It is a great pity that North Yorkshire County Council did not support an extension to Hellifield, and reopening of stations at Rimington and Gisburn, although 'DalesRail' trains do serve Hellifield on summer Sundays.
