Henry Kay Memorial
This stone memorial commemorates Henry Kay (1801-1883) of Haslingden Grane. It is in the mill yard at the former Grane Mill; (it looks as if it is in storage here rather than this being its original location).

Grane Mill, Haslingden - Tangye stationary steam engine
Inverted vertical single cylinder (open crank) engine by Tangye of Birmingham. This design won a gold medal in 1878 and is a smaller example of the ‘Archer’ design but without the front turned stay. It was used in a milk processing plant at Earlswood near Solihull and had been stored by a private collector. It was collected along with a small weir pump. It is No. 876 of c1890.

Grane Mill, Haslingden - Bryan Donkin & Clench stationary steam engine
Inverted vertical single cylinder (open crank) by Bryan Donkin & Clench Ltd of London and Chesterfield. It appears to be works No. 14750 and ran at 350 rpm on steam at 150 psi. This had been at the National Trust’s Quarry Bank Mill at Styal but was not on display and was ‘rescued’ for display at Grane Mill.

Grane Mill, Haslingden - Marshall stationary steam engine
Horizontal single cylinder test engine by Marshall Sons & Co Ltd, Gainsborough, works No. 78821 of c1925. This has a Meyer expansion slide valve and is a typical small Marshall horizontal with trunk guide and bent crank. It was used at Burnley Technical College.
