Padiham: Police station
In the days before 1974, when Padiham became part of the borough of Burnley, this was the old Lancashire Police station - Burnley had its own force. Now, Lancashire Police control that part of Lancashire that has not been subsumed into other authorities such as Cumbria or Merseyside.

Padiham: The 'Railway'
There is no railway here now, but the name is retained by the pub. Added railway connection is provided by the Network Rail employee who has just parked his van outside - but he was just coming home for his lunch!

Padiham: Station Road
Looking southwest. Station Road has a right-angle bend part of the way along which is not easily visible here, but the effect is that the furthest bit of road here has a different name - Park Road.

Padiham: River Calder
Looking downstream from Station Road bridge. This is the Lancashire Calder, not to be confused with the Yorkshire river of the same name. It is a tributary of the River Ribble.
