Burnley Thorneybank railway station (site), Lancashire
Opened in 1849 by the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway on what is today the line from Leeds to Preston, this station closed to passengers at the end of 1866 when it was replaced by Burnley Manchester Road railway station, situated immediately behind the camera position. View south east towards Towneley and Leeds.

Burnley Manchester Road railway station, Lancashire
Opened in 1867 by the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway on what is today the line from Leeds to Preston, this station replaced an earlier one called Burnley Thorneybank situated immediately behind the camera position. In turn, this station closed in 1961. It was reopened in 1986 when new platforms and a new entrance were provided. A new main building was erected in 2014, replacing the derelict 1866 one in Image, and built from the same, recovered stones. View north west towards Rose Grove and Preston.
