Wells fire station
This part of Wells used to be an allotment beside the old railway line up until the very recent past. The retained station is under the control of Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service, with 15 fire crew on hand. See Image] for a look at the tower.

Balch Road
This modern road is named after Herbert Balch. The street sign states: 'Founder and first curator of Wells & Mendip Museum during the late 19th century. Balch was a keen local naturalist, caver and geologist. He was created an honourary freeman of the City of Wells in 1994.'

Exchanging tokens at Wells Tucker Street
The fireman of a Witham Friary to Yatton train exchanges single-line tokens at Wells Tucker Street station. He hands the signalman the tablet for the Shepton Mallet - Tucker Street single line section, and collects the key token allowing the train to enter the Wells - Wookey section.
