Englishcombe school
The village school opened in 1872 and taught children until 1985, whereupon the falling class sizes forced it to close. Since then, it has become a parish meeting hall for the adjoining chapel.

Salem in Englishcombe
The Salem Chapel opened in 1845 and proved rather more popular than the church down the road, much to the dismay of the vicar of St Peter's. When the school closed in 1985, the chapel took over the facility as the Salem Christian Centre.
