The Old Crossroads at Chapel Cross
So named because of the former chapel that still stands nearby. Hard to imagine that the A303, the main trunk route to the West Country, used to pass through here.

Local destinations
The lane between North Cadbury and South Cadbury crosses the A303 (the bridge can be seen), hence the local destinations of London and Exeter.

The Chapel at Chapel Cross
Grade II* listed former wayside chapel, now a cottage. C13 origins with later modifications and additions. The chapel stands at the former, now rather fragmented crossroads at the aptly named Chapel Cross, between the villages of North and South Cadbury. The modernised and upgraded A303 trunk route now passes by this place on its way to the West Country.

Chapel Cross Cottage and phone mast
This is why your mobile phone reception is good on the A303; a nearby phone mast all but hidden from the main road but cheek by jowl with Chapel Cross Cottage, a former chapel not surprisingly.
