Metal post with attached metal plate by the A359, in parish of CASTLE CARY (SOUTH SOMERSET District), High Road, near crossroads in Galhampton village, in long grass in front of hedge, on West side of road. Wightman iron casting, erected by the Langport, Somerton & Castle Cary turnpike trust in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- : (CASTLE CAREY / 2 / SHEPTON / MALLET / 10) : : ILCHESTER / 8½ / MILES : Maker:- : WIGHTMAN FOUNDRY : Grade II listed.
