Wincanton Rural Neighbourhood Team have seen an increase in reports around hunting, hare coursing and poaching. We aim to establish better communications with our rural communities to address these issues and to encourage reporting.

We have seen an increase in reports regarding hunting which we are in the process of investigating and gathering key information which could help the investigation.

There has been a recent increase of theft of machinery from commercial and agricultural premises. Several items have been recovered and returned to their owners due to a combination of community intelligence and partnership working with our rural crime team. Please report and suspicious behaviour, small 'snippets' of information help us to build an intelligence picture and target our resources where they are most needed.

We have recovered trailers & stolen plant machinery in different operations and from reports we receive from members of the public. With the calls we receive this helps us significantly to recover property back to our victims. Wincanton Rural Neighbourhood Policing Team have been working proactively in responding to incidences and intelligence which we are receiving.
Regular contact with neighbouring constabulary’s are working successfully by sharing intelligence and helping with arrests and enquiries. Over different departments in Avon and Somerset we have seized multiple plant machinery, vehicles and trailers which have been involved in thefts and burglaries across the South West.

Relay theft allows criminals to unlock and steal cars by intercepting the signal from keyless entry fobs often without owners realising until it’s too late.
