A strange site off Park Road
It seems that someone has been using this little patch of grass in the town centre for other uses. The site used to be a coach works in the nineteenth century.

Haynes Butchers, Princes St Yeovil
Haynes the butchers have been here in Yeovil since about 1880. This used to be one of the main thoroughfares into the centre of Yeovil until redevelopment and building of a large dual carriageway resulted in this being turned into a quiet backwater and the road became a pedestrian underpass under the new road. Despite this Haynes are still flourishing providing excellent meat to the town.

Princes Street, Yeovil
The west side of the street, with Ham stone Georgian and neo-Georgian buildings. Beyond Prezzo, the mid-C18 row is listed, even though the "Ground floor stonework {is} mutilated" http://www.imagesofengland.org.uk/Details/Default.aspx?id=261423&mode=adv .

Haynes Butchers Princes St Yeovil
The interior of Haynes shows it to be one of the most traditional of butchers. The meat hooks are still on the racks on the wall, tiled in white and green many decades ago. There is still a traditional wooden cashier's booth or hut built into the shop. This is the last cashier's booth I know of in any shop, left over from a time when the cashier and the butchery functions were completely separate. The interior of the shop is very clean, bright and welcoming as are the proprietors.

Would you like the council to build flats on this car park?
A little lane is where a petition is being raised. Yeovil is not exactly short of car parks (mainly of a small size, it should be noted), so perhaps some people will welcome some new homes. Opponents can go to a website to make their voices heard.
