Chantry Gardens substation
A small electricity unit, tucked away in its own track. It is part of the post-war housing estate that expanded Southwick significantly in the modern era.

Dead woody

Batman's house?
High on the end wall of a house near Fleur de Lys Drive is a rather peculiar object. What might at first glance be a burglar alarm box actually has a bat motif in relief and a pattern on it. Further investigation reveals it is a product made by Schwegler - a firm renowned for producing bird and bat boxes.

A part of Southwick has been rebuilt with modern housing, with a few artistic additions to further brighten the place. Near this spot was the large Mowlem engineering works before its closure.

A choice after Southwick Bridge

The new Southwick Bridge over the Lambrok Stream
The stream runs across the eastern side of the village. With it being an important route the bridge was rebuilt around the 1990s, and it now runs closer to the open air baptistery. Fixed to the side of the railings is a green tube - presumably a water level monitor.

The open air baptistery
Southwick's strong support for the Baptist movement has been a long and important one, dating back to the seventeenth century. With a new church built in 1815 a short walk up the road, this old pool close to the Lambrok Stream was used for baptisms. It was rebuilt and rededicated in 1937. Grade II listed.
