The Circus, Bath
The Circus was designed by John Wood, supposedly based on the colosseum in Rome, with the foundation stone laid in 1754; the work was however completed by his son, also John, after the death of the older man. It can be said to represent the sun with the better-known Royal Crescent, a short distance away, representing the moon. This view is taken from the end of Bennett Street.
