St Lawrence church
The church is mainly a fifteenth century structure that has been substantially rebuilt in the nineteenth. Note the small octagonal staircase tower in the corner of the main tower: it is locally referred to as the King's Chair. Apparently, Charles II used it to look out for Parliamentarian troops in September, 1651, after the Battle of Worcester.

St Lawrence tower
The late fourteenth/early fifteenth century tower and church appear to be built on the site of a previous version, with hints of Norman masonry still apparent. A major renovation took place in 1874 by Charles Edward Davis and is Grade I listed. A benchmark can be seen on the base of the tower - see Image

St Lawrence - where the clipping takes place
An odd revelation on Wiki about this little church: around Easter every year the local people gather and form a human chain around it - known as 'clipping'. It appears to be a fairly recent custom that is rarely practised today. Some think it could be based on earlier Pagan rituals.
