The Bell Inn has fallen silent
The pub on the Frome Road near Rode has fallen on hard times. It closed in 2017 and its future is unclear. There have been moves to build houses here, which may yet prove accepted.

A fading board on a fading inn
The Bell Inn has been closed for eight years now and it seems unlikely that it will reopen. The hours board has a poignant air about it now.

The Bell Inn, Rode - now closed
The pub dates from the early nineteenth century but there is evidence there was an earlier set of buildings that served the locals from at least the eighteenth. It appears that the Bell is named so as it was built close to the church of St Lawrence. Sadly, the Grade II listed pub has been closed for eight years and there are plans for houses to be built here.
