In the distance beyond the lock is Avenue Road Bridge. On the left are industrial premises. I believe these, at least in part, are for Abstrakt Services - the UK's leading specialist in polywrapping and promotional fulfilment. I can't get over how nice the weather was, being sandwiched between seriously wet days.

Aston Locks, Birmingham and Fazeley Canal
1976 was a very hot dry summer, and by the end of August, many canals were seriously short of water. Ascending the Aston flight, it was necessary to let down water to fill each pound to a depth necessary for the boat to be brought up the pound.
