The Firs
Fir trees at the junction of Chipperfield Road and main Coleshill Road. There was once 'The Firs Estate' of private semi-detached houses that briefly enjoyed the benefit of the farmland and golf links. The name "Firs Estate" now points to the council estate and the name originated from these fir trees where once stood near a large house between Chipperfield Road and Hodge Hill Common.

This area of common land still provides a welcome green area in the midst of this area of urban development.

Recently having a makeover, this pub was well known for music and festivals http://www.birminghammail.net/what-is-on-in-birmingham/birmingham-restaurant-reviews/food-and-drink/2012/01/13/pub-review-hunters-moon-220-coleshill-road-hodge-hill-b36-8be-0121-749-2595-97319-30117669/ Opposite Hodge Hill Common.

Hunters Moon
This large pub in a prominent location would normally be busy, but when photographed was deserted and closed because of the Coronavirus pandemic. The photo was taken from Bucklands End Lane, formerly known as Maggotty Lane. I think it is a pity they changed it. See also Image

Furry Toyota on Coleshill Road, Hodgehill
An advertising gimmick for artificial grass (and I am unconvinced by the 'eco' claim on the numberplate), but this car parked on a suburban street is a pleasing image nevertheless. In the background, between car and pole, can be seen the tower of the 'Blue Cross Church', a local landmark, a United Reformed Church building now shared with the local Church of England congregation.
