Stechford's traffic
Stechford is blighted by the A4040, which turns the main shopping area into a dirty, noisy deathtrap. But it's a double-edged sword: if it wasn't for the road, there wouldn't be all those shops and businesses. Here's the entrance to the retail park, which is on the site of the old Parkinson Cowan works.

Stechford railway station, Birmingham, 2011
Opened in 1844 by the London & Birmingham Railway on the section of line from Coventry to Birmingham. View east towards Lea Hall and Coventry. As built, the station had staggered platforms with the Birmingham-bound platform in the same place as now but the original Coventry-bound platform was on the far side of where the road bridge now is, in the distance. In 1882, the eastbound platform was rebuilt in the current position and a station building erected above the tracks in front of the road bridge. It was replaced in the 1960s by a smaller booking office just out of view to the right. At the time this image was taken, eastbound passengers had to descend steps from the booking office and then ascend the footbridge shown. Access was greatly improved in 2020 - see Image
