Site of former Midland Bank, Longbridge branch. Sorting code 40-11-20
I worked for Midland Bank HSBC for 32 years and spent all but the last two in Birmingham Branches. I am photographing all the branches, or what's left of them, as they were when I joined Midland Bank in 1963. The branches all start with the sorting code 40-11.
This is the site of the branch at 1400, Bristol Road South, Longbridge which is now the Innovation Centre. Longbridge was a sub-office to Northfield branch and was manned daily by staff from the parent branch. The sorting code was 40-11-20.

Road to nowhere, Longbridge, Birmingham
Once part of the Rover Plant stood here Image More recently it was used as a car park for the new Longbridge town centre before they built a multistorey. Today it is just waiting for redevelopment.
