71-79 John Bright Street, Birmingham
Built as the Skin Hospital in 1887 by James & Lister Lea. An original Queen Anne design with the facade repeatedly stepping back and an unusual cupola. Grade II listed. The hospital services relocated in the 1980s, and while it looks in reasonable condition it's not clear whether this building is currently used for anything.

Former cinema, John Bright Street, Birmingham
The Futurist Cinema, begun by Arthur Stockwell in 1914 and completed by Essex & Goodman, opened in 1919 and closed in the 1990s. When this photo was taken it was the Meer Shisha restaurant with the upper floors available to buy or rent.

Good Beer Guide pub on John Bright Street, in theatreland. Circular counter, with two semi-circular bars around it; quirky decor, background music, some Victorian features and Art Deco windows. Cask ales on offer at my visit: Firebrand Black Stuff, Sadler's Mellow Yellow, Wainwright's, Wychwood Dirty Tackle.
