Church Street, Welwyn
There is no missing this 30mph speed restriction sign on a planter in the roadway. The other side shows a 20mph restriction. The plaque on the building just beyond the postbox tells us that Anne Van Gogh, sister of Vincent Van Gogh, lived here in 1875-6. Apparently the painter visited Anne on more than one occasion but poverty forced him to walk here from London.

Welwyn milepost - Stevenage 6, London 25
The plaque on top of this milepost is almost illegible but it tells us that 'The cast-iron milestone, first erected in 1834, when James Loudon McAdam improved the Great North Road for the Welwyn Turnpike Trust was re-erected by Welwyn Archaeological Society a few yards down the hill from its original position in May 1999'.
