Colney Heath: Bridleway to Coopers Green Lane (3)
Several of the bridleways in this area of Colney Heath have these large bored vertical metal pipes at their starts. At the gate beyond the fence the bridleway has been diverted from its original straight line route to Coopers Green Lane in order to avoid the active workings of Cemex's Hatfield Quarry.

Colney Heath: Rerouted bridleway alongside Hatfield Quarry (1)
The bridleway between Oaklands Lane and Coopers Green Lane used to run in a straight line between them. However the active gravel extraction workings at the Cemex Hatfield Quarry have forced a diversion, so now the bridleway runs alongside the quarry.

Smallford: Fire-damaged East Lodge at Oaklands
Very sadly this little lodge building on East Drive, that dates back to 1877, has recently suffered severe fire damage. Searching the internet for more information the photographer found a recent estate agent's "For sale" brochure indicating that it was being marketed, prior to the fire, but in a derelict state needing complete refurbishment, for £625,000.
