Elmcot, Harpenden Lane, Redbourn
A 1930s house, the house that I grew up in, from the back garden. It has, since this photo was taken, been considerably modified and improved [see front elevationImage], and from Google Earth it looks as if it has been extended to cover most of the distant area in shadow. And much of the garden behind has been lost to other housing development.

'Our Car - April 1953'
The identification on the back of a print that recently surfaced. It was a circa 1932 Morris Minor, side valve not overhead cam like the earlier ones, and a precursor of the Morris 8 (thanks to Mike Tebbett for details) - I was approaching 15 years old at the time. Ex-Elmcot, Harpenden Lane, Redbourn
A 1930s house, the house that I grew up in Image, now considerably modified. From a largely carless, and so garageless, pre-WWII society, the front garden has now given way to garage and parking space. The elm tree that gave the house its name has long since disappeared, and so the house name has been changed.
