Abbey Gate House/Great Gateway of The Monastery
The Great Gateway of The Monastery was erected in the 1360s and was besieged in the Peasants Revolt in 1381. Since 1871, it has formed part of St Albans School.

Memorial plaque, Glossop Memorial Garden
Plaque to Canon George Glossop in the Glossop Memorial Garden - see Image It reads: "Let those who rest in this garden remember with gratitude the life and work of George Henry Pownall Glossop, Canon of St Albans, a faithful priest, a firm friend, a genial host, a Christian gentleman. For forty years he gave to Church and State in this Diocese wise counsel, unceasing labour and generous devotion. To surround this Abbey with beauty and peace was one of his chief desires. He died, honoured and loved, on the eighth day of June 1925. 1858 - 1925"

Glossop Memorial Garden
Dedicated on 22 November 1928 as a quiet garden in memory of Canon George Glossop, who was not only an eminent clergyman but also a county councillor a prominent reformer of education in Hertfordshire through his chairing of various boards and committees and who had died in 1925. It was funded by public subscription and designed by Sir Herbert Baker, a colleague of Sir Edward Lutyens. He also strongly supported the setting up of World War 1 Street memorials commemorating the fallen of the Abbey Parish - see http://www.geograph.org.uk/snippet/7007.
