Bricket Wood railway station
The Watford Junction to St Albans Abbey line was opened by the London & North Western Railway (LNWR) in 1858, so it will celebrate its 150th anniversary in 2008. There has been a station at Bricket Wood ever since the line opened. The original plan was to extend the line beyond St Albans to Luton and Dunstable but these plans never came to fruition. The current timetable has 21 trains a day on weekdays in each direction along the single track line, taking a scheduled 14 minutes between Watford and St Albans.
