St Peter's church was built in 1825 and opened for worship in 1826. Beyond the church building is the single-story Parish Centre, built in 1985 for church and community use.

The choir stalls have been moved back from their original position close to the central aisle.

The interior of St Peter's church in September 2000, following relighting of the church in July and August. Comparison with other photos will show the removal of dangling 'cluster' lights; they were replaced by small spotlights mounted on the beam supports against the wall. One set can be seen on the left of the picture.

St Peter's church interior in November 2010
The church interior seen at night following major refurbishments between April and September 2010.
The pews have been removed and replaced by chairs. The floor has been levelled off except for a small step up to the altar area. This allows much more flexible access for those in wheelchairs and families with small children in pushchairs and buggies.
The heating and lighting in the church has also been completely renewed.
