One Below
Discount store at 69-69a St Peter's Street, previously occupied by another discount store, Poundland. One Below moved here in April 2021. Next door, at nos 67-67a, is the former Poundworld, which closed in July 2018 after the firm went into administration. Ironically, One Below was founded in 2018 by the former Poundworld owners.

Former Poundworld
Former discount store at 67-67a St Peter's Street, which closed in July 2018 after the chain had gone into administration. The condition of the site has deteriorated significantly since then - compare Image taken a month after closure. Beyond is another discount store, One Below, housed in what was formerly the St Albans branch of rival chain Poundland. Ironically, One Below was founded by the former owners of Poundworld soon after the original firm had gone under.

38 - 42 St Peter's Street
A group of 18th century houses towards the northern end of the main part of St Peter's Street. Nearest is No 38, followed by Nos 40 (the one covered in Virginia Creeper with the porch - originally called Donnington House, now Mallinson House) and 42. All three are grade II listed - for listing particulars see www.historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1174138, www.historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1347164 and www.historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1103055 respectively. Together they house the headquarters of the National Pharmacy Association.
