Ruin
Another ruin! This one is marked but not named on both the 1871-4 six-inch and the modern 1:25,000 maps. The gable is of traditional rubble construction, but the walls have apparently been rebuilt at some point with breeze blocks.

Pauper Cottage
Pauper Cottage
This is right by the crossroads which is the end of the public road. It is not shown on the 1871-4 Ordnance Survey map, but it is marked and named as 'Pauper Cottage' on the 1901-5 edition. I speculate that it was built by the parish to provide accommodation for the indigent poor, probably elderly, of the parish. Update: I have been informed that it was at one time a kirk.
