Pauper Cottage

This is right by the crossroads which is the end of the public road. It is not shown on the 1871-4 Ordnance Survey map, but it is marked and named as 'Pauper Cottage' on the 1901-5 edition. I speculate that it was built by the parish to provide accommodation for the indigent poor, probably elderly, of the parish. Update: I have been informed that it was at one time a kirk.
