Bankers Lane
One of the numerous lanes that link the mains streets of Keith, viewed from Moss Street. It's quite common to find a lane blocked by a vehicle delivering or collecting goods, but there is always another lane not far away.

Moss Street
Moss Street is the main A96 trunk road through Keith. Its efficacy as a bottleneck is greatly enhanced by the installation of traffic lights at the entrance to a large supermarket which was permitted to obliterate part of the traditional street in favour of a vast car park.

Moss Street and Institute Lane
About 20 narrow lanes link the main streets of Keith. Institute Lane is named after the Institute, the building with the prominent clock tower in Mid Street.

Mid Street
Mid Street is the shopping street of Keith, in spite of being narrower than both of the parallel streets. So far it has barely been invaded by the large chains, and it boasts an excellent electrical goods retailer and ironmonger, among others.

The Great Keith Roadworks
The A96 trunk road still runs through the town of Keith, and the powers that be have decided to carry out extensive road works on it, resulting in long queues of traffic at busy times. They have also blocked off the ends of most of the lanes which cross the street. One of the 'Road Closed' signs is visible at right. There are signs saying that no diversion is available, but local drivers know a myriad of rat-runs through the narrow streets, otherwise the congestion would be far longer.
