Unusual Gate
The red-barred gate hinges down to lie almost flat, matching the far side of it which is already sloping into the field. This forms an arch which can be negotiated with a quad bike, but would deter cattle from escaping.

Ruin above Hillhead
A look at the first edition of the six-inch Ordnance Survey map, published in 1873, shows that these are the ruins of one of half a dozen crofts or farms, all of which have now vanished except Hillhead of Frendraught itself.
