When banks looked like banks...
Former Town and County Bank, High Street, Turriff. According to the Buildings of Scotland (Pevsner) Guide, it is in "modest Cinquecento palazzo" style. Note the carved heads above the ground floor windows and the huge first floor sash windows. Originally, the left door was for the bank and the right door for the agent's house. Victorian Villa
This impressive sandstone villa was built in 1888, and was the home and surgery of the doctor. It now houses offices of Aberdeenshire Council. I have to confess to tampering with this view: there was a wheelie bin parked by the gate, which I moved out of the way while I took the photograph as I could not bear letting it mar the image!

Former St Ninians Manse
The Venetian window and ornamental pediments caught my eye, and suggested that this was no ordinary house. It has been replaced by a modern manse for the present incumbent.
