Sunrise over Meldrum
The picture shows a view over the village of Old Meldrum, just after sunrise (4:20am). The town hall in the centre is lit by the rising sun, which has not yet, "burnt-off" the mist lying over the farmland beyond. Bennachie forms a back drop to the scene.

Sir Patrick Manson (1844-1922) was one of Scotland's greatest medical scientists. He worked on tropical diseases such as Malaria and he founded the London School of Tropical Medicine in 1899.
